Belt Systems and Mat Hours

Here at the Clinch Academy, I am on a mission to restore the image of the Warrior and the meaning of true martial arts. Martial arts is meant to have a realistic approach to self-defense, freedom for artistic creativity, improvement of health and fitness, and most importantly a good moral code that allows you to represent the arts in a way that glorifies God. A warrior strives to be a better person and to maintain peace with world around them. At the Clinch our Jiu-Jitsu belts come with different values. According to your belt color you should be striving to become more familiar with the meaning of that value and the application of it. You should also always continue in the way of the belt colors below you. This is just as important as the physical skills you will learn in order to be promoted. We also go by an hours system which is the primary indication of promotion time.

White Belt = Respect
White Stripe = Focus and Awareness
Blue Belt = Humility
Blue Stripe = Trust
Purple Belt = Gentleness
Purple stripe = Self - Control
Brown Belt = Patience
Brown Stripe = Passion/Love
Black Belt = Perseverance
Advanced Black = Loyalty

White Belt = 0 hrs
White Stripe = 80 hrs
Blue Belt = 240 hrs
Blue Stripe = 420 hrs
Purple Belt = 650 hrs
Purple stripe = 840 hrs
Brown Belt = 1050 hrs
Brown Stripe = 1300 hrs
Black Belt = 1540 hrs
Advanced Black = ?

One of the ways promotions are attained at the Clinch
is through mat time. Be sure to mark your hours at the
Clinch every time you train in jiu-jitsu. These hours are
updated monthly and posted on the members page for
you to see.

MMA promotions are basically getting you from one level to the next. The beginner level (MMA 101) is to teach you the technical foundation for MMA. After achieving 150hours in the beginner program you graduate to our pro/am class which is for the fighters who wish to train and drill hard for amature and professional MMA fights. If you don't wish to fight you can also help our fighters train by participating in this class.
