"So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin."
Romans 7:25
As Man, I know that there is a moral code to live by. Everyone knows this. We can tell the difference between right and wrong. I know it is wrong to murder, steal, lie....These things are obvious to us all. Even the people who do these things know it is wrong. A theif may say it is not so bad to steal until someone steals from them, then they will let you know how they really feel about it. There are other things that are what I would consider "Wrong" but would be debateable by plenty. These are things such as viewing pornography, fornication, adultry, covetousness...To some these may not seem so wrong. The Ten Comandments are a perfect guide line for right and wrong. Believe it or not at the top of the list is
"You shall have no other gods before Me."
Not to rank these laws in order from greatest to least but this one has great power. The Bible says that if you break one law you broke them all. For instance, some would say that they are good people. Well, the Law is the measure of who is good. The only good people are the ones who never broke a single commandment. That leaves everybody out. Well except for One. You may say well I don't murder or steal or commit adultry. That's good, it really is but you my friend are not. If you have ever told a single fib you are guilty. There are plenty of people who live "good" lives but are extremely guilty because they break the first law everyday. You break one, you break them all.
The first commandment has power. You see if you believe in God for who He is, you are not guilty of breaking any of the law. God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God came to earth as Jesus being fully human and fully God so He could be our Redeemer. He came to fulfill the Holy Law and conquer sin and death which is the final sin so that we could have eternal life in Jesus Christ.
So now believing in God, I have no wrongs against me. I still struggle to do what is right every day and I will do wrong always but my mind has been renewed. I don't want to do those things but I am weak. We all are weak. Thanks to God I see what is right and I wish to do those things. When I do wrong I have no shame because of Christ my replacement. I can seek forgiveness and mercy and He will give it to me. This is exactly how I know that my God is True. The war within. The constant battle that wars within between my sinfull nature and the Holy Spirit living in me. God convicts me, teaches me, trains me and gives me the power to do what is right but my sinfull nature is my weakness.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."
2 Corinthians 12:9
The law is no longer my salvation but Christ the Lord Who is the New Law which is the old law fulfilled on my behalf. If God gives us the gift to love Him than everything else will fall into place. If you truly love God, you can do no wrong.
"But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it in their hearts; and I will be their God and they shall be My people."
Jeremiah 31:33
"For we know that all things work together for the good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Romans 8:28
